This may be fun...
Who'd like to see me comment about random funny Tweets on here? Just a crazy idea. (Of course the identity of the person will be left out). Please let me know if this is something you guys and gals would like to see on a regular basis.
Remember When...?
Remember music videos on MTV and VH1? I'm old enough to recall the days when these two channels did not wait until 3 or 4 in the friggin' AM to start playing music videos. Both of these channels have made a pact with Judas and Satan and have become reality television dependent zones.
Yes I watch those (reality television). I won't lie about that. But wouldn't it be nice to actually be able to flip through the channels and watch a rockin' music video on VH1 or MTV?
Not complaining. I'm just saying, wouldn't it be nice for a change?

Two words that I learned from Social Media
Every day I learn something new. Some of it because of I have to (like school), but often times I get to learn some cool things. One of the best things about the whole Social Media is that I learn new slang and expressions just by interacting with people I know.
Two words that come to mind are chillaxin' and asshat. Being somewhat versed online, I think I first ran across "asshat" from my time as a member of the sports gaming site, Pastapadre.com (which I still am a member, though not as actively part as I used to).
When I come to think of it, "asshat" is a curious term because what does it mean literally? How does one even wear a hat on one's buttocks? Is that even possible? Then someone on Twitter explained that she liked to use it as a way to diss someone without being overly offensive. In this way, I actually gained a new appreciation for the term.
The other one, "chillaxin'," is one that I immediately connected with. A combination of the two words, 'chilling' and 'relaxing' into the new word, "chillaxin'," which I think is one of the coolest things ever. Whoever was responsible for that deserves my utmost gratitude and admiration because he/she is a freakin' genius.

Killing The Old, Ushering In The New
In the "covered wagon days," long before Social Media, the Internet, and instant messaging have all conspired to take over the collective consciousness of the planet, things were much more complicated yet. Gone are the days of snail mail, actually having to wait to go to school to see friends, or having to pass a driver's exam so that a guy/girl could finally prove his worth to a crush or potential girlfriend/boyfriend just by the fact that they finally could be independent and have their own mode of transportation.
Social media and the Internet have, in some ways, brought people together. However, (and I am guilty of this), I believe that Social Media and the Internet have largely made the old ways of connecting with people utterly irrelevant. I don't believe that, given the choice, people would pass up meeting a potential friend/mate to just being relegated to an online relationship.
On one hand, I'm grateful to Social Media and the Internet for the reason that it's brought me the opportunity to meet people that I probably would have never met otherwise in real life because I normally am not one to go out much. However, on the other hand, it kind of creates a kind of distance and skepticism that would raise potential obstacles to really "getting to know" people.

Dipping One Foot Into The Water
I know, I know. You must be thinking: Who the hell does this guy think he is, Perez Hilton? TMZ? I am done of these things. Just a regular guy who loves all things related to Pop Culture. I've decided to do one specifically under the Pop Culture umbrella because for me to just do a separate blog for each of these areas would be redundant and unnecessary.
So here we are. My Blogger reserved for all things Pop Culture as well as my assorted miscellaneous rants.
Enjoy. And I hope you will stay awhile.
